2024 Mercedes-Benz EQT: E-Mobility Meets Everyday Utility

Mercedes-Benz is yet again stepping up its game in the electric mobility sector with the unveiling of its new model, the 2024 EQT. As part of Mercedes-Benz Vans' ongoing electrification strategy, the EQT integrates the practicality of a small van with the advantages of all-electric drive. The new model aims to offer an attractive entry point to the brand's fully electric offerings for families and those with active lifestyles.

Design and Dimensions

The EQT carries the distinct aesthetic language of the Mercedes-EQ family, recognizable by its Black Panel radiator grille with a central star and dynamically designed radiator fins. The model combines compact exterior dimensions with a generous interior space, thanks to the strategic placement of the battery in the underbody. This design decision not only saves space but also contributes to a low center of gravity. The EQT measures 4498 millimeters (177.1 inches) long, 1859 millimeters (73.2 inches) wide, and 1819 millimeters (71.6 inches) high. A long-wheelbase variant is also set to follow later in the year.

Electric Motor and Charging

Powering the EQT is an electric motor that delivers a peak output of 90 kW (122 hp) and a maximum torque of 245 Newton meters. The lithium-ion battery, which has a usable capacity of 45 kWh, is located in a crash-protected area in the underbody in front of the rear axle. Charging the EQT can be conveniently done using either alternating current (AC) at 22 kW or direct current (DC) at 80 kW. With the latter, the charging time is about 38 minutes from 10% to 80% State of Charge (SoC).

Safety and Driver Assistance Systems

In line with Mercedes-Benz's commitment to safety, the EQT comes equipped with numerous driver assistance systems and seven airbags as standard. These include a center airbag that can deploy between the driver and front passenger seats in the event of serious side collisions. Additional standard driving assistance systems include Hill Start Assist, Crosswind Assist, ATTENTION ASSIST, Active Brake Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Blind Spot Assist, and Speed Limit Assist. An optional Driving Assistance Package is also available, which includes Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC and Active Steering Assist.

MBUX and Mercedes me

The EQT is furnished with the standard MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system and offers access to a broad range of digital extras from Mercedes me. This setup provides an immersive user experience with its adaptive software, intuitive operation via a 7-inch touchscreen, smartphone integration, and the "Hey Mercedes" intelligent voice assistant. The MBUX system can even anticipate driver preferences using predictive functions.

Sustainable Business Strategy

With the EQT, Mercedes-Benz Vans is making another stride towards the realization of its Ambition 2039 goal, which seeks to achieve a CO₂-neutral fleet of new private and commercial vans by 2039. The EQT signifies another milestone in the brand's commitment to electric mobility, joining the ranks of the eVito Panel Van, the eSprinter, the eVito Tourer, and the EQV in the brand's expanding electric portfolio.
