Lamborghini Unveils the 2023 Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition

On 16th May 2023, Lamborghini uncovered a tantalizing offering, the Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition, a model dedicated exclusively to owners of the limited 40-unit Essenza SCV12 track-only hypercar. This limited-edition super SUV has been meticulously crafted by the Lamborghini's Ad Personam department, ensuring a unique design tailored to each customer's specifications.

An Exclusive Touch of Carbon Fiber

One of the defining features of this special edition Urus is the extensive use of exposed carbon fiber elements, available in glossy or matte finishes. This includes not only the engine hood and roof but also the rocker covers, mirrors, and a carbon fiber frame featuring the Lamborghini logo set between the rear light clusters. The choice of finish echoes the treatment of the bodywork chosen by the customer, reflecting their unique taste and style.

Dedicated Ad Personam Livery

Adding to the vehicle’s track-oriented character, Lamborghini’s Centro Stile designers have created a custom Ad Personam livery, with color combinations tailored to specific customer requests. Each unit is hand-painted in Lamborghini’s in-house paint shop, featuring a two-tone color scheme that echoes the customer's Essenza SCV12 car. A unique number is painted on the doors, and each example comes with 23” high gloss black wheels and black calipers by default, with options for customization.

Interior Design and Features

The cabin of the Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition is as exclusive as its exterior. The interior features Nero Cosmus (black) Alcantara upholstery with leather details, carbon fiber decorations, black anodized aluminum elements, and a contrasting red door handle. Two celebratory carbon fiber plaques are included in the passenger compartment, one with the Lamborghini 60th Anniversary logo, and the other with the vehicle number or the customer’s name, making each unit truly one-of-a-kind.

Performance and Capabilities

Boasting a twin-turbo V8 engine that delivers a whopping 666 CV (approximately 657 horsepower) of power and 850 Nm (approximately 627 lb-ft) of maximum torque, the Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition is a testament to Lamborghini's continued commitment to high-performance engineering. This super SUV accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in a mere 3.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 306 km/h (approximately 190 mph). It has even set a new record in the production SUV category on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb course.

Connection to the Essenza SCV12

First unveiled in July 2020, the Essenza SCV12 is designed solely for track use, with engineering solutions derived from racing. It features a naturally aspirated V12 engine, similar to the one used in the Aventador, and can deliver more than 830 CV (approximately 819 horsepower), partly thanks to dynamic supercharging at high speeds. The Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition continues this dedication to high-performance and racing-inspired design and engineering.

The Lamborghini Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition demonstrates Lamborghini's commitment to pushing the envelope of what's possible in terms of both aesthetics and performance. It's an impressive feat of automotive design and engineering, offering a unique blend of the brand's famous sportiness and a level of exclusivity that's hard to match. However, while the performance capabilities are undoubtedly impressive, it's important to note that this model is primarily targeted at a niche group of Lamborghini Essenza SCV12 owners, making it a truly bespoke creation.

Emissions and Fuel Consumption

With performance comes responsibility. The Urus Performante Essenza SCV12 Special Edition, with its powerful V8 engine, has a combined fuel consumption of 14.1 liters per 100 kilometers (approximately 16.7 mpg) under the WLTP cycle. The combined CO2 emissions are rated at 320 g/km (WLTP), indicating Lamborghini's ongoing efforts to balance performance with environmental considerations.
