The test and development phase for the BMW M2 CS Racing is entering the home stretch. Now the time has come to present the new entry-level car in the BMW M Customer Racing product range to the public, and to potential customers. Last weekend, the BMW M2 CS Racing celebrated its North American debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona (USA). The maximum torque of 406 lb-ft (550 Nm) is transmitted by a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission which has been updated using special motorsport software. The rear locking differential features separate cooling and transfers power to the drive wheels via purpose-built output shafts and wheel bearings adapted for motorsport.
The BMW M2 CS Racing’s engine management, as on the BMW M4 GT4, will allow for various performance levels to be programmed and retrieved, depending on future stipulated Balance of Performance requirements, via Power Sticks. Club Racing and track day drivers can expect an upgraded variant of the car, featuring around 450 horsepower, to be available later this year.
