Chevrolet Bids Farewell to Sixth Generation Camaro with a Collector's Edition

As the sunset of the 2024 model year approaches, Chevrolet has unveiled a special Collector's Edition of the Camaro, a fitting tribute to the iconic model's sixth generation. This edition, available across the LT/RS, LT1, SS, and ZL1 trims in North America, harks back to the Camaro's original roots and offers a unique set of features that add an extra layer of exclusivity. This, for the automotive enthusiasts, serves as the final toast to a well-loved classic.

The Panther's Influence on the Camaro Collector’s Edition

The first-generation Camaro, originally codenamed 'Panther' during its development in the 1960s, played a significant role in shaping this special edition. Chevrolet's Performance Design Studio drew upon this historic code name, infusing the Collector's Edition with a 'Panther' theme, evident in the color choices and specific design elements. The Panther Black Metallic paint for SS and Panther Matte Black for ZL1 are striking nods to the Panther roots, according to Rich Scheer, the design director at Chevrolet Performance.

A Detailed Look at the Features

With a blend of heritage and modernity, the Collector’s Edition offers LT/RS, LT1, and SS trims coated in Panther Black Metallic Tintcoat paint with Satin Black accent stripes. Adding to its aggressive look are the 20-inch Satin Black or optional Polished Forged Wheels, a front splitter from the 1LE package, and a rear spoiler from the ZL1 package for the coupes. Unique front fender script badging and panther-themed steering wheel badge further enhance its appeal. The laser-etched aluminum Collector’s Edition logo on the floor mats and exclusive black interior treatments add a touch of opulence to the interior.

The ZL1 Collector’s Edition, limited to 350 units, cranks up the exclusivity a notch higher. The factory-offered matte Panther Black exterior, ZL1 1LE front splitter, and rear wing, coupled with red brake calipers, create an eye-catching exterior. Inside, each of the 350 ZL1 models boasts a serialized steering wheel badge, indicating the production sequence of the vehicle.

Special Commemorative Offerings

Owners of the Camaro Collector’s Edition will be treated to a welcome kit with two posters commemorating the Camaro generations and the Collector’s Edition. However, the perks for ZL1 Collector’s Edition owners don't stop there. They also receive a custom Canfield Sport 45mm watch from Shinola, with a serial number matching their vehicle's steering wheel badge. The watch, imbued with Camaro and panther motifs, shares a striking resemblance with the ebonized presence of the 2024 Camaro Collector’s Edition.

Updates for 2024

Besides the Collector's Edition, the 2024 Chevrolet Camaro lineup will be available in coupe and convertible options on LT, LT1, SS and ZL1 trims, with 1LE remaining an available option on SS and ZL1. Under the hood, buyers can choose from the 3.6L V-6, 6.2L LT1 V-8, and the supercharged 6.2L LT4 V-8. Two new exterior colors, Riptide Blue and Nitro Metallic Yellow, can be selected across all trims, providing an even wider palette of options.

A Collector's Farewell

The Chevrolet Camaro Collector's Edition is more than just a car; it is a tribute to an era of automotive design, a salute to the loyal fans, and a demonstration of Chevy's commitment to preserving its rich history. This farewell to the Gen Six Camaro truly celebrates the car's legacy of agility and style. Dealers will start accepting orders on June 15, but interested buyers should act quickly. After all, the opportunity to own a piece of history doesn't come around often.
