Mercedes-AMG GT R vs. GT S

Quicker, faster, and more aggressive-looking: Mercedes-AMG has finally unveiled the more powerful version of its front engine AMG GT, the new AMG GT R.

Power and Performance

The AMG GT R is powered by the same 4-liter V8 twin-turbo engine as the AMG GT S, but this time it's tuned by Affalterbach motorheads to produce 577 hp (US-Spec), which is 67 hp and 105 hp more than what you'd get from AMG GT S and AMG GT respectively. That gives the AMG GT R enough power to catapult from zero to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds; 0.2 faster than the AMG GT S.

Exterior and Dimensions

Although dimensions data hasn't been released yet, it's apparant thet the sportier AMG GT R has wider wheel arches and wider front and rear tracks than the AMG GT S. It also has gotten a more aggressive radiator grill with vertical stand-out lines. The rear wing is permanently attached, like that of AMG GT S First Edition, but is designed to produce more down-force at higher speeds (top speed is now 198 mph, instead of AMG GT S' 192 mph).
