Automotive one-off: The ultimate in individualisation – the Exelero concept car

  • Exciting Sports Coupé based on a Maybach Saloon
  • V12 biturbo engine with 515 kW/ 700 hp
  • Top speed: 351.45 km/h

Test vehicle for high-speed tyres from Fulda

Maybach attains the ultimate in individualisation with the Exelero high-performance concept car. It combines the first-class qualities of a Maybach high-end luxury Saloon with the exciting character of a Sports Coupé. This two-seater, which is powered by a 700 hp V12 biturbo engine, was built for tyre manufacturer Fulda as a one-off which will serve as a reference vehicle for a new generation of wide tyres. The German luxury-car manufacturer built this unique vehicle as a contemporary interpretation of its legendary streamlined model of 1939, thereby establishing a link with the historic predecessor which was also based on a powerful Maybach model (SW 38) and used by Fulda for tyre testing.

One of the defining elements of this unique vehicle – in addition to the striking bodywork – is the engine. The optimised 5.9-litre twelve-cylinder powerplant in the Exelero develops almost 515 kW / 700 hp while its torque peaks at 1020 newton metres. During testing at the Nardo high-speed circuit in Italy, the vehicle attained a top speed of 351.45 km/h.

The Exelero embodies the highest expression to date of the Maybach individualisation strategy of offering specific custom solutions on request. Developers at Maybach designed the custom model with the participation of students from Pforzheim College. The Exelero was built by the prototype specialists at Stola in Turin (Italy). There are no plans for series-production of this model.
