HAMANN BMW X4
As particularly sporty crossover the BMW X4 has attracted many fans within a very short time – with good reason as the city four wheeler enthuses with responsive handling and top performance. However, anyone who knows Hamann Motorsport knows that this is not the end of the rope – more is more in Laupheim. In time for the launch of the new X4 M40i, Hamann makes available its individualisation kit for the compact car from Munich and all engine variants. At the Geneva Motor Show, Hamann for the first time presents the car.
Self-confident aerodynamics kit
As always with Hamann, the self-confident aerodynamics kit is particularly striking and comes with the powerfully shaped front spoiler that the car refiner from Laupheim self-confidently named “Competition”. Not for nothing, because this way the X4 presents itself especially sporty, individual and almost aggressive: the standard front’s unremarkable openings on the side are modified by accurately fitting air intake panels that Hamann accentuates with two LED daytime running lights. The all-around spoiler lip dynamically completes the spoiler downwards to produce a low-flying look.
With the rear trim panel harmoniously integrated into the standard rear Hamann provides the stylish backdrop for the sport rear muffler that ensures a worthy sound, which is produced by four premium stainless-steel tailpipes with a diameter of 90 millimetres and Hamann logo. Above all there is the elegant rear wing with lateral carbon-fibre elements in racing look.
Wheel arch mouldings provide space for appealing wheel/tyre combination
The fancy aerodynamics attachments’ lines come together at the wheel houses that Hamann subtly shapes with four-part wheel arch mouldings to provide the necessary space for the precious 21-inch light-alloy “Anniversary Evo” wheels available in silver, black and other finish variants for the model.
On both the front and rear axle the 9.0 x 21 inch wheels are equipped with “Ultrac Vorti R” tyres from Vredestein. Sized 265/30, the high-performance tyres fulfil all of the refiner’s requirements in terms of longitudinal and lateral dynamics with flying colours. Thanks to sport springs to optimise the suspension and lower the vehicle’s centre of gravity by around 35 millimetres the Hamann model’s driving dynamics also differ from the standard model. This modification perfectly suits the X4 and ensures a solid roadholding and maximum fun through bends.
Electronic power advancement to up to 381 hp/280 kW
You can never have enough power the BMW refiners think. Hence, Hamann Motorsport offers supplementary control units for differing engines: a great deal is possible – the xDrive 20d can be boosted to up to 231 hp/170 kW, the xDrive 35d to up to 381 hp/280 kW (standard value: 313 hp/230 kW at 4 400 rpm). A torque of 760 Nm is achieved at 1 500-2 500 rpm, which pushes the X4 enormously and even exceeds the performance data of the new X4 M40i. By the way: Hamann Motorsport customers can simply relax and enjoy this performance as all power packages are offered including insurance cover now.
Exclusive interior elements
Hamann equips the interior with sport pedals and a footrest made of black anodised aluminium with Hamann logo. This also decorates the exclusive set of floor mats in black high-pile tufted velours with nubuck leather edging and double contrasting seam. The embroidered luxury tuner’s lettering in silver colour make the headrests look exclusively. Particularly striking are the car door LED welcome projector lights: when opening the car door, the inconspicuously placed projector automatically projects the HAMANN logo onto the floor – a highly visible statement of the unusual.
Hamann Motorsport has carefully combined different modules to achieve a perfectly concerted X4 kit. However, the individual components can also be purchased separately. Hamann refines the cars at its headquarters in Laupheim as well as at international partner sites.
