2020 Chevrolet COPO Camaro John Force Edition: A Powerhouse Fusing Legacies

In a remarkable event at the 2019 SEMA Show, Chevrolet unveiled the 2020 COPO Camaro John Force Edition. The vehicle is a testament to the rich heritage of Chevrolet's factory race car lineage and the renowned track record of 16-time NHRA champion driver, John Force. Its distinctive style, supercharged prowess, and unique charity-oriented intentions make it a standout on the drag strip.

Symbolizing a Celebrated Partnership

Recognizing John Force as a monumental figure in drag racing history, GM U.S. vice president of Performance and Motorsports, Jim Campbell, expressed his pride in this unique collaboration. The COPO Camaro John Force Edition not only captures the spirit of competitive racing but also promotes a charitable cause. Its auction at the 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale event aims to contribute to DonorsChoose.org.

A Distinct Addition to the COPO Camaro Lineup

The 2020 COPO Camaro John Force Edition is not part of the regular annual production run of 69 COPO Camaro race cars, adding to its exclusivity. Instead, it sports a special “2020COPO-FORCE” identification plaque, making it a unique creation within the coveted COPO Camaro series.

A Tradition of Charity and Rarity

Since 2012, only 552 COPO Camaros have rolled off the Chevrolet assembly line, contributing to their rare, desirable status among factory race cars. In this period, five COPO Camaros have been auctioned for charity, raising close to $2 million for various causes. This practice continues with the John Force Edition, reaffirming Chevrolet's commitment to social responsibility.

Styling and Customization

The 2020 COPO Camaro John Force Edition boasts a black-and-silver paint scheme inspired by John Force himself. As for the standard 2020 COPO Camaros, they are now available in an expanded range of color options, including four production colors: Black, Summit White, Satin Steel Gray, and Red. Furthermore, the palette is enriched with seven heritage colors reminiscent of the 1969 Camaro: Hugger Orange, Butternut Yellow, Frost Green Poly, Olympic Gold Poly, Garnet Red, Fathom Green Poly, and Azure Turquoise Poly.

Engine Lineup: High Performance Meets Versatility

The 2020 COPO Camaro offers an array of engines. There's a revised version of the supercharged, LSX-based 350 engine equipped with a 2.65L Magnuson supercharger, as well as all-new LSX-SC cylinder heads. In addition, Chevrolet offers an LSX-based naturally aspirated 427 engine. The Racer’s Package is another available option, which includes a carbon-fiber air inlet, dual batteries, a weight box, a parachute, and a quick-change coupling (compatible with the supercharged engine).
