The new compact BRABUS high-performance sedan: 478 kW / 650 HP, 820 Nm and 320 km/h for the Mercedes C 63 S

The new compact BRABUS high-performance sedan or a full-blooded wolf in sheep’s clothing. A new powerhouse from BRABUS celebrates its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show 2016.

A performance upgrade boosts the rated output of the eight-cylinder twin-turbo engine of the Mercedes C 63 S to 478 kW / 650 HP (641 bhp) and bumps peak torque up to 820 Nm (604 lb-ft). The tuned four-door car sprints from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.8 seconds and reaches a top speed of 320 km/h (200 mph). Carbon components for the bodywork, tailor-made 20-inch wheels and a BRABUS fine leather interior with markedly sporty design add further thrilling highlights.

A whopping 103 kW / 140 HP (138 bhp) of extra power for the Mercedes C 63 S: The new BRABUS PowerXtra B40S – 650 performance upgrade turns the Mercedes C 63 S into a compact high-performance sedan par excellence! The tuning is naturally also available for the C 63 S Wagon. The BRABUS Tuning Warranty® for three years or 100,000 kilometers / 62,000 miles documents the high quality of the engineering and workmanship (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013). BRABUS recommends MOTUL high-performance lubricants.

One of the key features of the engine tuning for a turbocharged engine such as the 4.0-liter (244 cu in) eight-cylinder in the C-Class is more boost pressure. The BRABUS power unit engineers therefore developed special turbochargers with larger compressor unit and a special core assembly with reinforced axial bearings.

A BRABUS control unit with new datasets governs the electronic boost pressure control as well as injection and ignition, which is also a crucial factor in the performance upgrade. With PowerXtra B40S – 650 tuning, the rated output increases from standard 375 kW / 510 HP (503 bhp) to 478 kW / 650 HP (641 bhp) at a low 5,800 rpm. Simultaneously, peak torque grows from 700 to 820 Nm (516 to 604 lb-ft), available constantly on a plateau between 1,750 and 4,500 rpm.

The uprated eight-cylinder engine harmonizes perfectly with the seven-speed sports transmission of the C 63 S, which can also be shifted manually with the BRABUS RACE aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The sedan equipped with BRABUS PowerXtra B40S – 650 performance kit accelerates from rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.7 seconds. The slightly heavier wagon with identical engine tuning takes just a tenth of a second longer for the same exercise. The BRABUS Vmax unit, which is part of the engine conversion, allows limiting the top speed to 300 or 320 km/h (186 or 200 mph). BRABUS offers the matching speedometer with 340-km/h (211-mph) scale.

The BRABUS stop/start memory module is yet another option to enhance the driving fun. It stores the last selected setting of the standard start/stop system and keeps it active even after an engine restart or after switching driving modes.

BRABUS offers a fully stainless-steel exhaust with actively controlled butterfly valves for the V8 with or without engine tuning to make the C 63 S even more exciting acoustically and visually. It offers an electronic sound management controlled from the cockpit. At the touch of a button, drivers can choose between a subtle “Coming Home” mode and an extremely sporty exhaust note with open butterfly valves.

The BRABUS naked carbon bodywork components deliver an optimal blend of aerodynamic efficiency and sporty looks. They come with a choice of matte or mirror-polished sealed surface and were fine-tuned in the wind tunnel. The BRABUS front spoiler fits the front bumper of sedan and wagon. It is designed to minimize lift on the front axle at high speeds and thereby further optimizes handling stability. In concert with the spoiler, the BRABUS carbon surrounds for the side air intakes in the front bumper lend the top-of-the-line C-Class an even more distinctive front. Carbon attachments on both front fenders emphasize the sporty-elegant appearance of the C 63 even more.

BRABUS also developed an aerodynamic upgrade for the rear of the C 63 Sedan. In concert with the diffuser made from the same material, the carbon rear spoiler reduces lift on the rear axle. In addition, the rear bumper insert also provides the perfect backdrop for the two dual tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust. The naked carbon covers for the two exterior mirrors represent another sporty upgrade for sedan and wagon.

In addition, the looks and handling of the C 63 S can be refined with tailor-made BRABUS 20-inch wheels and a sports suspension. The sedan is presented at the Geneva Motor Show with two different BRABUS wheel designs in sizes 8.5Jx20 on the front axle and 9.5Jx20 at the rear. The latest member of the BRABUS wheel family is the Monoblock T styling with five spokes with inlaid carbon-look elements. BRABUS Monoblock F wheels representing an evolution of the classic cross-spoke design are available as another exclusive option. All wheel variants are mounted with high-performance tires from technology partners Continental, Pirelli or YOKOHAMA of sizes 255/30 ZR 20 at the front and up to 275/30 ZR 20 on the rear axle.

Together with technology partner BILSTEIN, the BRABUS suspension engineers and test drivers developed a specially tuned height-adjustable coilover suspension to make the handling of the C 63 S even more agile and even safer. The rebound and compression rates of the gas-pressure shocks at the front and rear axle can be dialed to one of ten settings.

The company upholstery shop adds equally exclusive and sporty highlights in the cockpit with an exquisite BRABUS fine leather interior. To match the decidedly sporty character of the compact high-performance sedan, the contact surfaces of the sport seats, parts of the steering wheel rim, the dashboard and the door center panels were covered with black Alcantara with special anti-slip properties. The rest of the interior is dominated by black leather, which was refined with decorative bright yellow leather elements.

Exclusive BRABUS carbon elements sealed with high-gloss piano lacquer on the instrument panel, center console and door panels as well as aluminum pedals and door-lock pins emphasize the sporty ambience of the tuned four-door car even more.
