2016 BRABUS Mercedes-Benz G500

BRABUS Mercedes-Benz G500

Performance upgrade to 368 kW / 500 HP and 710 Nm. Innovative lighting concept, wheel diameters up to 23 inches and custom BRABUS fine leather interior appointments.

An output of 368 kW / 500 HP (493 bhp), 710 Nm (523 lb-ft) of torque, an innovative lighting concept, alloy wheels with diameters of up to 23 inches and custom BRABUS fine leather interiors created with consummate craftsmanship: BRABUS refines the latest generation of the Mercedes G 500.

The four-liter twin-turbo V8 engine of the latest Mercedes G 500 vintage is an outstanding basis for a powerful BRABUS variant. The power unit engineers of the Bottrop-based refinement specialist used state-of-the-art test bench technology and extensive road tests to develop the BRABUS B40 - 500 PowerXtra performance upgrade.

The plug-and-play performance module is integrated into the electronic engine management system of the off-roader and provides the V8 with newly calibrated mapping for injection and ignition while moderately increasing the boost pressure. BRABUS recommends high-tech lubricants from technology partner MOTUL also for this engine.

The engine tuning is of course backed by the exemplary BRABUS Tuning Warranty for 3 years or 100,000 kilometers / 62,000 miles (see BRABUS Warranty Terms and Conditions, updated July 2013). It makes the G 500 even more dynamic: 368 kW / 500 HP (493 bhp) or 58 kW / 78 HP (78 bhp) more than the production car and a peak torque increased by 100 Nm (74 lb-ft) to 710 Nm (523 lb-ft) make the cross-country vehicle considerably more agile – on the road and off the road!

The tuned G-Class model delivers outstanding performance in perfect interplay with the seven-speed automatic transmission, whose gears the driver can also shift manually with the ergonomically shaped BRABUS aluminum paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The sprint time from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) shortens to just 5.7 seconds. The top speed is an electronically limited 220 km/h (137 mph).

In response to customer requests, BRABUS also offers an engine appearance package with red components that immediately signal the presence of a tuned power unit from Bottrop upon opening the hood.

In addition, BRABUS adds an acoustic highlight to the G 500 besides: The BRABUS stainless-steel sport exhaust with controlled butterfly valves offers active sound management: A touch of a button on the steering wheel allows choosing between the subtle “Coming Home” mode and an especially potent V8 sound. The new exhaust exits in two chromed side pipes on the left and right side of the vehicle, thereby adding some thrilling visuals as well.

BRABUS offers a host of options for the bodywork of the latest generation of the all-wheel-drive legend, culminating in the spectacular WIDESTAR widebody version. The designers of the world’s largest manufacturer-independent tuner have developed an innovative lighting concept especially for the revised front-end of the current G-Class. It is fitted to the front bumper with the new BRABUS front-end attachments. The new lighting concept involves six built-in high-performance LEDs on each side. Customers can choose between a chrome-plated and a black version. These lights can optionally come with an integrated turn signal function. This renders the production turn signals on top of the front fenders obsolete, which can be replaced with precise-fit covers made from naked carbon. The two outer edges of the BRABUS front-end components feature an integrated illuminated BRABUS logo in addition. BRABUS black-tinted xenon headlamps represent yet another attractive design option.

The appearance of the G-Class is refined further with BRABUS bodywork components such as a BRABUS logo for the radiator grille and a hood scoop made from naked carbon.

In addition, BRABUS upgrades the sides of the vehicle with underbody lights for the running boards, which are activated by pulling on a door handle or operating the keyless remote.

Another BRABUS specialty is the exclusive refinement of the interior. The company upholstery shop creates BRABUS fine leather interiors from especially soft and breathable Mastik leather and Alcantara in practically any desired color. Customer requests are realized in every detail with the same pinpoint precision that governs the fabrication of the carbon or precious wood trim for the cockpit. Furthermore, BRABUS offers sporty aluminum components such as pedals and door-lock pins or stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo.
